Status:        Full-Time; Hourly; Non-Exempt

 

This role will pay a salary of $17.00 to $19.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the maintenance and repair of facility systems and equipment including HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, chillers, refrigeration, boilers, and associated equipment as well as general maintenance and upkeep activities.
  • Performing preventative maintenance and scheduled predictive maintenance checks following manufacturers’ recommendation.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, shop drawings, schematic manufacturer’s specifications, and other reference materials to determine appropriate job requirements and procedures.
  • Documenting procedures, processes, and best practices in on-plan sets and end-user manuals or modifying what has previously been documented.
  • Accurately maintain records of labor time, parts used, and work accomplished.
  • Effectively communicate with all Operations team members to accomplish projects and tasks. 
  • Establish and maintain cooperative-working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Plan work to ensure cost effective use of labor and materials.
  • Ensure tools and equipment are in good repair and properly stored. 
  • Provide on-site support during events as well as during weekends and holidays.
  • Assist in pre-event set up while supporting HVAC and electrical needs.
  • Follow/uphold all safety standards.
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 years increasingly reasonable experience in building maintenance; experience in building repair, carpentry work, painting, plumbing, and electrical preferred.
  • Experience in a convention center, sports, entertainment, or hospitality industry strongly preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must possess a valid State driver's license.
  • Must be certified to operate a forklift or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Certifications preferred: EPA CFC Universal.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and climb ladders required.
  • Must have experience with power and hand tools.
  • Familiarity with OSHA requirements
  • Required to work independently and under minimal supervision.
  • Able to make immediate decisions and communicate with others.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be available to work various shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Intellectual/Social Demands:

  • While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is continuously asked to multi-task under time limits. Position requires constant attention to precise details and accuracy of specified standards including following simple to complex (more than 3 steps) instructions, and concentration which frequently extends beyond 30 minutes at a time. Employees in this role will constantly be in leadership role; this requires directing others either verbally or in writing to complete tasks in prescribed time frame. This position also requires constant use of interpersonal skills including ability to direct/motivate/inform staff and foster collaboration, being able to recognize and resolve conflicts, being able to openly communicate in writing and verbally with clients.

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee constantly operates a computer and other office devices such telephones, copy machines, fax machines, etc.; occasionally moves about inside the office to access storage areas, cabinets and office machinery; constantly moves about the arena and event sites before, during and after events to service clients and supervise staff; constantly communicates via telephone, email and in-person with others to exchange accurate information. Additionally, the employee frequently lifts and moves facility equipment, supplies and/or tools. Employee will constantly move about inside and outside various areas of the facility before/during/after events; position will require employee to frequently bend, stoop, or crouch in order to set-up, tear down or clean in various areas of the building and grounds. Employee will as needed operate various machines in cleaning and maintenance of building; employee will constantly communicate via radio and in-person with staff to exchange accurate information. Employee may frequently be required due to business demands and event operations to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.

Work Environment:

  • The duties of this position are performed indoors and occasionally outdoors in the weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environments is usually moderate to loud during events and minimal during non-event times.
