Overview

The Prep Cook plays a critical role in the kitchen by preparing ingredients and ensuring that all necessary components are ready for the chefs. This position involves working in a fast-paced environment, maintaining a clean and organized workspace, and following food safety regulations to ensure high-quality dishes are prepared and served. The Prep Cook must be able to work well under pressure and have a strong understanding of kitchen operations.

 

This role will pay an hourly rate between $17.25

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and measure ingredients as per recipes or chef instructions.
  • Wash, peel, and chop vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients.
  • Portion and package food for storage or future use.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including utensils, equipment, and storage areas.
  • Assist chefs with cooking and plating as needed.
  • Monitor food inventory levels and report any shortages to the kitchen manager.
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Assist in receiving and storing deliveries of food and supplies.
  • Ensure proper food storage and labeling practices to avoid spoilage.
  • Support the kitchen team in maintaining a positive and efficient work environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience as a prep cook or in a similar role is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of cooking methods, ingredients, and kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work well in a team.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and procedures.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
