Overview

The Head Baker is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the bakery, including the production and quality control of all baked goods. This role involves managing a team of bakers, creating and developing recipes, ensuring adherence to health and safety standards, and delivering exceptional products to customers. The Head Baker will also handle inventory management, vendor relations, and contribute to the overall strategic goals of the bakery.

 

This role will pay a daily wage of $285.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and train bakery staff, ensuring efficient operation and adherence to quality standards.
  • Schedule shifts, manage workflow, and resolve any issues that arise in the bakery.
  • Foster a positive work environment and maintain staff morale.
  • Develop and refine recipes, ensuring consistency and high quality of baked goods.
  • Experiment with new products and incorporate customer feedback to enhance offerings.
  • Maintain a current knowledge of industry trends and innovations.
  • Oversee daily baking operations, including the preparation of dough, batter, and other ingredients.
  • Ensure all baked goods meet the bakery’s quality standards and are produced efficiently.
  • Conduct regular inspections of products and equipment to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Monitor inventory levels and order ingredients and supplies as needed.
  • Manage relationships with vendors and ensure timely delivery of high-quality ingredients.
  • Track and manage food costs to maintain profitability.
  • Engage with customers to understand their needs and preferences.
  • Address customer complaints or concerns in a professional manner.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to promote bakery products and drive sales.
  • Maintain accurate records of production, inventory, and sales.
  • Prepare reports and analyze performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including sanitation practices.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a baker, with a track record of successful bakery operations.
  • Strong knowledge of baking techniques, recipes, and ingredients.
  • Leadership experience, with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
  • Culinary degree or relevant certification preferred, but not required.
  • Specialized training or experience in baking and pastry arts is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency with bakery equipment and tools.
  • Ability to work with various baking technologies and software.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
  • Ability to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
