Overview

Moody Center is offering a paid internship program for the Summer Semester. We are looking for individuals who want professional level experience and have the initiative, skills and drive to excel. This program will give individuals an opportunity to work alongside professionals in the live entertainment, sports, and venue management industry. This internship will provide experience with Community Relations. Interns will gain working knowledge of Community Relations in an arena setting. The Community Relations Intern will work with the Community Relations Manager in uplifting Red River Rising, Austin Arena Company’s community platform initiative dedicated to empowering local musicians, preserving the downtown music scene, and addressing housing insecurity. This role is suitable for an exceptionally organized, marketing and social media oriented, and passionate individual with a desire to expand the organization’s community relations efforts. The Community Relations Intern will be responsible for supporting summer fundraising efforts, help coordinate volunteer opportunities, and developing future opportunities to connect with the greater Austin community.

 

Internship Details:

  • Pay: $13.00 / hour
  • Not to exceed 20 hours per week
  • Internship Dates: Spring – Summer 2025 (January – August)
  • Location: Moody Center, on UT campus

This position will remain open until December 31, 2024.

Responsibilities

  • Support with online auction efforts including community partner outreach, marketing, website oversight, order processing/shipping, and more.
  • Help manage the suite donation and ticket request program through correspondence with local nonprofits, community partners, etc.
  • Research potential nonprofit partnerships, key local events/meetings etc., to increase awareness of Austin Arena Company’s community efforts.
  • Support Red River Rising social media and website efforts, including brainstorming of content, design, calendaring, and strategic planning.
  • Creation of community relations presentation deck to present to key community partners, local Chamber of Commerce, etc.
  • Coordinate volunteer opportunities for employees, premium members, and partners.
  • Brainstorm opportunities to uplift Red River Rising’s mission of empowering local musicians, preserving the downtown music scene, and addressing housing insecurity.
  • Help coordinate logistics for the summer public tour program and other community events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Background in nonprofit work, community relations, and/or live entertainment
  • Strong self-awareness, time management, and organizational skills with proven ability to multi-task and manage projects on strict deadlines
  • Understanding of Austin local nonprofit landscape
  • Positive attitude and passion for community relation efforts
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentational communication with strong attention to detail and design
  • Strategic and critical thinker who is dynamic, forward-thinking, analytical, and extremely well organized
