Overview

Moody Center is offering a paid internship program for the summer semester. We are looking for students who want professional level experience and have the initiative, skills and drive to excel. This program will give the intern an opportunity to work alongside professionals in the live entertainment, sports, and venue management industry. This internship will provide experience with facility operations and event execution. Interns will gain working knowledge of how to transform the arena to meet the needs of upcoming events and be involved in facility operations practices such as inventory management, conversions, material handling, and a variety of event related tasks.

 

Internship details:

  • Pay: $13.00 / hour
  • Not to exceed 20 hours per week
  • Internship Dates: Summer 2025 (June-August)
  • Location: Moody Center, on UT campus

This position will remain open until May 9, 2025.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in all aspects of the conversion process in preparation for events (setting up and tearing down flooring, portable chairs, barricades, staging, tables, other furnishings and equipment)
  • Perform various duties to ensure the day-to-day operations of the facility are met including, but not limited to, loading/unloading delivery trucks, transporting trash and waste to proper disposal area and replenishing supplies
  • Participate in improving standard operating procedures and departmental documentations. Assisting with operations tasks and other duties as assigned.
  • Assist, when necessary, with pre/post event cleaning, but not limited to, sweeping, mopping, trash removal, vacuuming, spot cleaning, washing, carpet cleaning
  • Perform repairs and maintenance tasks as needed such as painting, patching, and other conversion related operational equipment
  • Report irregularities, discrepancies, safety or damage concerns or loss of property promptly to Operations Supervisor
  • Work independently, exercising judgment and initiative
  • Work extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends and holidays, as needed
  • Perform strenuous physical duties at times, including lifting, carrying, moving and climbing
  • Operate equipment such as light trucks, pallet jacks, forklifts, boom lifts, scrubbing machines or other light power-driven equipment

  • Excellent safety record and work ethic
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills 
  • Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and work in a team setting
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Previous experience within a sports, entertainment, or related field is preferred
  • Willingness to learn and open to coaching 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) 
  • Work effectively under pressure and/or stringent schedule and produce accurate results
  • High level of demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and ability to maintain sensitive information
