Overview

The Sushi Cook is responsible for preparing a wide variety of sushi dishes in accordance with established recipes and standards. This role requires attention to detail, creativity, and a commitment to food safety and cleanliness. The ideal candidate will work closely with the kitchen team to deliver high-quality, beautifully presented dishes while maintaining a clean and organized work environment. Due to the nature of this venue, the successful candidate must be comfortable working outdoors.

This role pays an hourly rate of $23.00 CAD.

Benefits for Part-Time roles: Pension matching.

This is a seasonal role from approximately June 1st 2025- October 15th 2025.

Responsibilities

  • Creating and preparing all types of sushi according to the menu
  • Manage food preparation activities
  • Coordinate with other staff members to ensure proper cooking, considering special requests and food allergies
  • Monitor food stock and place orders, as needed
  • Recommend new, modern recipes
  • Maintain hygiene principles in all cooking areas and clean your space at the end of the shift
  • Follow safety procedures and policies to ensure a safe environment
  • Keep a clean and organized workspace and maintain a professional
  • Ensure company and kitchen standards are met at all times
  • Ensure quality of food and portion control
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned by management

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1–2-year experience in preparing sushi
  • Knife skills and good knowledge of various sushi types and sushi-rolling techniques
  • Coachable, reliable and has the “can do” attitude
  • Be able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Concise communication skills and effective team player
  • Must be innovative, detail oriented and quality conscious, always keeping updated on new trends in the hospitality industry
  • Must be able to work different shifts, which may include holidays, evenings and weekends
  • Able to legally work in Canada
