Overview

Have you ever thought about working in a fun, event-focused environment? At Fair Park, we oversee events, marketing, and sales, set up for a show, a concert, soccer game or a football game in the Cotton Bowl Stadium, while working with the community.  We work in a wide variety of types of jobs to make events all come together.
 
This summer internship is for students who must be a rising senior for the school year 2025/2026 or a recent 2025 graduate of James Madison or Lincoln High School

 

 

This four (4) week internship program will involve hands-on training in multiple departments at Fair Park and its cultural institutions through a variety of traditional and non-traditional means for Fair Park and its venues.
 
Our Part-Time Summer interns will learn about different aspects of venue management ranging from events, to sales and operations. The internship will consist of approximately 24 hours a week Tuesday to Thursdays. Some positions may work with times varying to include an evening or a partial Saturday, depending if working an event schedule.
 
At the completion of the 4-week internship program, students are eligible for a $1000 scholarship towards continued education.
 
This role pays an hourly rate of $15.00.
 
This internship will start on June 3, 2025, and will end on June 26, 2025.

 

This position will remain open until June 3, 2025.

Responsibilities

  • Exposure to various departments at Fair Park, including but not limited to Guest Services, Community Engagement, Fundraising, Events, Social Media, Security, Operations, Capital Projects-construction, Sales, Facilities, Security, Park/Stadium Management, and Ticketing
  • Perform a variety of daily and event-day responsibilities within the various departments, rotating to broaden knowledge of venue management
  • Assist with a variety of responsibilities and projects at Fair Park’s Cultural Institutions, which include the African American Museum, the State Fair of Texas and the Texas Discovery Gardens
  • Selected Interns will participate in Intern Fellows Training/Leadership Development Workshops
  • Selected Interns will participate in community service held during the summer internship period
  • Students will participate in weekly training and workshops, including but not limited to college preparedness, resume writing, interview skills, and workplace communication
  • ­­­­Assist Event Managers in coordinating various types of events
  • Assist Security or Operations staff with parking, learning various skills
  • Complete special projects as assigned by management
  • Attend departmental and building meetings as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
 

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 17 years old and able to work in the U.S by June 1, 2025
  • Must have completed viewing of Work Readiness Webinar
  • Letter of recommendation from a teacher or campus leadership
  • Excellent communication, organizational and people skills required
  • Must be self-motivated with a ‘can-do’ attitude and a desire to learn
  • Students must meet all guidelines that James Madison and Lincoln High Schools have set forth for this internship program
  • Must be flexible and able to stand for periods of time
  • Some positions may require working outdoors, able to work in the elements
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Communicate clearly and concisely in the English language, both orally and in writing is required
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule
  • Must possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to function and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Must demonstrate a positive, professional and customer-focused attitude
