Overview

Under general direction from the Sr. Operations Manager, the South Okanagan Events Centre's (SOEC) Conversion Crew Supervisor leads and coordinates the event setup & tear down and daily operational activities at the SOEC.

 

This role pays an hourly rate of $20.19 CAD - $25.00 CAD

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the overall daily operation and maintenance of the SOEC
  • Lead and supervise crew of 15-30 during Event Conversions
  • Be an integral part of event set-ups from pre-event troubleshooting to post event wrap ups
  • Dasher Board & Glass Maintenance.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools and measuring instruments
  • Experience with any or all of - Sky Jack, Fork Lift, Boom Lift and Fall Arrest is an asset
  • Work cooperatively with Sr. Operations Manager and Operations Manager on making orders for parts and materials necessary to complete minor repairs and fabrications
  • Receive and maintain supplies
  • Conduct inventories of equipment
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas
  • Work effectively in a service oriented environment subject to frequently changing priorities
  • Ability to work under high pressure in meeting urgent deadlines
  • Establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with those contacted in the course of work: staff, contractors, facility users…
  • Work a flexible schedule including early mornings, days, evenings, overnight, weekends, holidays, extended (long) work days and extended number of days
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Performs other duties assigned which influence the success of the company and directly relate to the responsibilities of the job

Qualifications

  • Requires a minimum of 2-4 years related experience
  • Ability to deal with contractors and fellow employees in a courteous and tactful manner
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a demonstrated commitment to safety, teamwork and co-operation
  • Demonstrated ability to work from verbal and written instructions; must be able to accurately interpret sketches, diagrams, and building drawings
  • Physical ability to work in either an inside or outside environment, operate equipment and perform work functions as required
  • Able to handle high-paced event environment and must have good multi-tasking skills
  • Exhibit a professional appearance and comply with all uniform requirements
  • Maintain a regular and reliable level of attendance and punctuality
  • Ability to work overtime as required
  • Able to multi-task and perform miscellaneous job related duties as assigned
