Overview

Oak View Group is seeking passionate, motivated, and forward-thinking individuals to join our Guest Services Staff team at the South Okanagan Events Centre. The Guest Services team member reports to the Event Coordinator and is responsible for providing excellent on-site customer service, having knowledge of events/the building, assisting guests with questions, and engaging with guests to assist their needs during the event. Most importantly, we want our guests to feel a sense of belonging and to enjoy their time in a safe and lively environment.

 

This role pays an hourly rate of $17.85-$21.00 CAD

Responsibilities

  • Welcome our guests in a friendly and polite manner upon entry to the venue.
  • Assist with keeping the venue safe and presentable.
  • Assist guests with finding their seat/section.
  • Direct guests to restrooms, concessions, and other areas of the venue.
  • Maintain open access routes throughout seating areas, keeping aisles clear.
  • Execute stop-in-play during hockey games.
  • Answer questions guests may have about the event or venue, and direct them to guest services if unable to answer.
  • Monitor the crowd for potential safety concerns and report them to appropriate personnel.
  • Assist with ticketing issues by directing guests to the guest services desk.
  • Help create positive experiences for our guests.
  • Be knowledgeable about arena emergency evacuation plans to safely assist guests in an emergency.
  • Manage traffic flow of large crowds.
  • Other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications

  • Customer service experience preferred
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Acute sense of judgement, tact, and diplomacy
  • Consistent professional and neat presentation
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to manage crowds and remain calm in a high-paced environment
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Able to work flexible and sometimes demanding schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays
