Overview

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of all exterior areas, including the facility’s external perimeter, on a daily basis. Personnel may also be assigned to interior areas of the convention center as operational needs require and are expected to support overall facility cleanliness wherever needed. Team members may be trained to operate equipment used in the maintenance of convention facilities, including forklifts, compactors, and other related equipment. Work hours and shifts vary based on event-related activity and operational demands.

 

This role pays an hourly rate of $15.00-$16.00

Responsibilities

  • Entrances Maintenance: Regularly maintain exterior entrances of the convention center, including window and glass cleaning, to ensure all areas are clean, safe, and presentable. Duties include sweeping, washing, and removing debris.
  • Debris Removal: Proactively remove litter, palm fronds, and other debris from all exterior areas, including entrances, roadways, driveways, surface lots, dock areas, campus exterior walls, and landscaped spaces.
  • Pressure Washing: Operate pressure-washing equipment to clean walkways, outdoor seating areas, and other exterior surfaces as needed.
  • Outdoor Event Area Maintenance: Assist with the upkeep of outdoor event areas, ensuring they are clean, organized, and event-ready.
  • General Upkeep: Perform routine inspections of facility areas and report maintenance or safety concerns to a supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with housekeeping, maintenance staff, and event coordinators to ensure all facility areas—both interior and exterior—are prepared for events and daily operations.
  • Training & Equipment Use: Participate in training for the safe operation of maintenance carts, lifts, ladders, and other equipment as required.
  • Additional Duties: Employees may be assigned to perform housekeeping or maintenance tasks inside the convention center as operational needs require. Job responsibilities are not limited to a single area and may change based on event schedules and facility demands.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in maintenance or landscaping is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to operate pressure washing equipment and other maintenance tools safely.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical stamina to perform manual tasks and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Flexible schedule to accommodate varying event needs.
