Overview

A Staff Accountant II typically performs a variety of accounting tasks, such as preparing financial statements, analyzing financial data, reconciling accounts, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles. They may also assist in budget preparation, audit support, and financial reporting. This role requires a solid understanding of accounting principles and proficiency in financial software.

 

This role pays an annual salary of $75,000-$95,000.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares, analyzes, and reviews financial statements using accounting principles.
  • Keeps records of account entries by compiling and analyzing accounting activities.
  • Prepares reports such as balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other documents that project the organization's financial position.
  • Reviews financial statements for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Oversees accounting operations, or a complex segment of the accounting function.
  • Coordinates accounting matters with other departments.
  • Performs work under general supervision.
  • Handles moderately complex issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
  • Possesses solid working knowledge of subject matter.
  • Analytical thinking skills and problem solving.
  • Ability to work within a team.
  • Support the month-end and year-end close process, including preparing and posting journal entries, accruals, and reclassifications, and providing variance explanations.
  • Prepare, review, and post accurate and timely general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of general ledger records by reconciling cash, prepaid expenses, fixed and intangible assets, accounts payable, accrued expenses, and intercompany accounts.
  • Build and maintain effective cross-functional relationships to enhance collaboration and improve financial reporting accuracy.
  • Perform ad hoc financial analyses and other special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • Experience: 2-4 years of accounting experience preferred (public or corporate).
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with NetSuite/Coupa/Concur and Oracle EPM preferred.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both accounting and operational teams.
