Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Restaurant Supervisor for Skywalker Grill, the flagship premium restaurant at the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art. Bringing together elevated cuisine, thoughtful design, and warm hospitality, Skywalker Grill offers a distinctive dining experience within one of Los Angeles’ newest cultural destinations. This hourly leadership role is for a service-minded professional who enjoys being on the floor, supporting colleagues, and keeping a busy dining room running smoothly. Working under the direction of restaurant management, you will guide daily service, reinforce established standards, and help the team deliver attentive, welcoming hospitality. You bring a warm approach to hospitality, sound judgment, and the confidence to help a team deliver consistent service. Build your hospitality leadership experience at Skywalker Grill while helping create memorable dining experiences for museum visitors, members, and the local community. You will work alongside restaurant management, develop your supervisory skills, and make a direct contribution to the team’s success each day.

This role pays an hourly rate of $33.00 - $35.00.

Benefits for Part-Time Roles: 401(k) Savings Plan, 401(k) matching.

This position will remain open until December 31, 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Lead by example and provide practical support throughout each shift.
  • Supervise assigned shifts and complete opening, service, and closing checklists under the direction of restaurant management.
  • Coordinate floor assignments, side work, and team communication so service areas are prepared and guest needs are met.
  • Stay visible in the dining room, monitor seating flow and service pacing, and step in to support hosts, servers, and support staff.
  • Respond promptly to guest questions and concerns; resolve issues within your authority and involve a manager when needed.
  • Lead pre-shift briefings as assigned, sharing menu updates, reservations, special requests, and service priorities.
  • Communicate with the kitchen about timing, order accuracy, dietary needs, and approved allergen procedures.
  • Help with breaks and shift coverage according to the staffing plan; communicate coverage needs to management.
  • Support onboarding and on-the-job training; coach team members on established service steps and share performance observations with management.
  • Maintain dining room presentation, table readiness, and service station supplies throughout the shift.
  • Reinforce cleanliness, sanitation, and safety practices; report hazards, equipment issues, and maintenance needs promptly.
  • Assist with POS questions, payment procedures, and cash reconciliation as assigned; follow approval requirements for discounts, voids, and adjustments.
  • Complete shift handoffs and service recaps, documenting guest concerns, operational issues, and follow-up needs.
  • Model a respectful, reliable approach to teamwork and help colleagues stay organized during busy service periods.

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of front-of-house experience in a full-service restaurant, with prior shift lead, captain, trainer, or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience in an upscale or high-volume dining environment and a strong understanding of restaurant service standards.
  • Ability to supervise service, prioritize tasks, and remain composed and approachable during busy periods.
  • Strong guest service and communication skills, including the judgment to recognize when an issue needs management support.
  • Proficient using POS systems and following cash handling and payment procedures.
  • Attention to detail and a dependable, hands-on approach to supporting colleagues and completing shift responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and allergen communication practices; ability to obtain required certifications.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Experience in destination dining or cultural and entertainment venues is a plus.
